Fluency practice is embedded in the Common Core. Repeated reading is a research based strategy to improve fluency, but the passages in the AIMSweb and Dibels programs are long, boring and not related to the curriculum. Student avoid practice because the stories are not engaging.
This package contains information for the teacher on how to start a repeated reading program, a parent introductory letter, teacher and student data charts and ten practice passages that relate to the curriculum and are interesting for the students. The passages also review content area vocabulary, including solar energy, sound waves, elections, branches of the government, figurative language (idioms), and the Incas.
