Here are three activities to help teach reported speech to secondary or ESL students.
1. Reported Speech "I have ... who has ...?" game. Students play the popular game using reported speech. (gender variations included)
2. Reported speech dialogue. Students read a dialogue and convert each line to reported speech. This could also be done orally, where students act out the dialogue and other students report what they said. (answers included)
3. Reported speech sentences. This is a worksheet, great for assessment, where students transform the sentences in direct speech to reported speech. (answers included)
