An easy activity to teach reported speech - cut out the squares and play following the rules of the game 'Memory'. Direct speech ("I am going to the store") sentences have reported speech ("she said she was going to the store") equivalents.
1. Cut out game pieces and arrange face down on the grid
2. The first player turns over two cards and reads them aloud. If the reported and direct speech match, they keep the cards. If not, they replace them in the same location.
3. The next player takes his/her turn by choosing one of the same cards as the previous player or two different cards.
4. Play continues until all matches are made.
