Students use building blocks to design key scenes from To Kill a Mockingbird and then describe the scenes using well-constructed paragraphs. Each student chooses one scene, draws a blueprint, builds a representation of the scene out of building blocks, and presents it to the class. Common Core Standards and a grading rubric are included. This English Language Arts project supports STEAM in the areas of art design and engineering. It works well for individual students, students working collaboratively, and for classroom or library makerspaces.
