Helping students to understand fractions can be a challenge. These task cards help students to see how parts of a group can be described using fractions. using two color counters, students can better see how fractions describe fractional parts of a group.
Initially, I use these cards at my teacher table during math stations. After students become comfortable with using two-color counters to build these fractions, I move the cards to the "partner" rotation so that students can continue to practice these skills with a friend. Following my fractions unit, these cards are great resources for students that still need to work with the concept a bit more.
