When students have been exposed to the idea that we can represent numbers in different ways (using words, numbers, pictures, 10-frames, tallies, on number cubes, with money, etc.) we can move on to representing greater numbers in the same ways.
This activity gives students the opportunity to be “mini-teachers” and to show their classmates how they have represented greater numbers.
Represent numbers with a place value chart
Represent numbers with tallies
Represent numbers with 10 rods and 1 cubes
These activity pages are also great for math stations or centres.
Included are pages for 10-60. There are enough 10-frames, and base 10 block pictures on each page for students to represent up to number 60.
