Product Description

This is an extensive document in which I scripted out Lucy Calkins Research based Argument writing lessons. Lucy suggests researching whether or not chocolate milk should be served in schools. However, I revamped this whole unit with a much meatier issue: Should sports teams be allowed to use Native American Mascots and symbols. There is a table of contents with links to jump to each page. Also Included are a number of links associated with the 'connection' piece of the lesson. With many lessons is a page that could easily be posted for display with student directions. A link to a self and peer editing checklist that I created is also included. I also included links to possible topics for bend 3, a google slide brochure template, and links to A LOT of Youtube videos and articles to pique students' interest, as well as a student friendly scoring rubric.

**Some lessons make reference to my personal writing piece I used as an example. Actually there is a LOT of writing of mine I used as an example writing on both sides of the topic. You might choose to do some editing of these pieces. Very minor. Also, this is STILL a work in progress. There are blanks in some areas such as the 'mid lesson teaching point' and the 'share' that you would need to personalize. Most of the 'letter to teacher' lessons are also blank, as I used those as 'work days.' A few lessons near the end of the unit are unfinished, as this unit occurred in May and June, and time was limited.
