This Research Handbook is the perfect way to introduce, practice, and apply each step of the research process! Use it along with any subject area research project! Your students will use this handbook again and again!
FINDS is an acronym for a research model. According to the model, the steps are:
Focus on the topic! This is where students select and narrow down their topic.
Investigate Sources! Students are shown how to evaluate sources for validity and reliability.
Note Important Details! Students practice taking notes for note cards and graphic organizers that are relevant to their research.
Develop an Outline and Draft! Students are shown step-by-step how to write and outline and how that outline can be used as a prewriting graphic organizer to write their draft.
This Handbook includes:
* A cover and introduction to the FINDS Model of research
* Several pages for each of the steps listed above that introduce, provide practice with, and a model for that step.
* Words to Know! For each step and a Glossary in the back that compiles all of the words in one place.
* The pages, when copied back to back, can be cut to create handy tabs to access the information needed for each step quickly! (see picture)
