Students compile a portfolio of mini-projects to show understanding of a research topic. All students complete at least four mini-projects (two given, two choice), activating multiple intelligences and hitting different standards of Common Core. You can differentiate by changing length requirements or asking students to complete extra mini-projects.
This product is part of my Research Packets
, but has been provided as a stand-alone resource for you to implement with other topics.
This product picks up after the research has been completed.* The original guidelines for these mini-projects assume two required projects and two choice, but I’ve included additional versions for expanding or condensing. In my classroom, we do the first “required” project together before students have “free” workdays. For lower performing students, set specific time limits on each mini-project so that they move on to the next piece of the collection.
Here is a suggested timeline, assuming an hour-long class:
Overview Booklet/Required Project #1 – 1-2 days
Resume/Required Project #2 – 2 days
Artistic Choice – 2 days
Written Choice – 2-3 days
+1 day for finishing touches and turn-in.
You can also have students complete the Self Evaluation and present in small groups.
This packet also includes a ready-to-go Rubric based on a 100-pt scale.
