This is an easy to use outline to help students research on their own and easily organize their information. This has been a life-savor in my classroom! I use the first page (I print front & back) to show the students how it should be set up and what I am looking for. We may choose a topic to easily set up a quick example.
I try to show my students that your main topic is the answer to your "wonder question". Once you find the answer, write it down as your main topic and write the facts that back up your answer.
This becomes extremely easy for them to grasp after just a few times of modeling. I have even taken my higher level kids and had them use PowerPoint/Keynote and taught them to just transfer each main topic to a slide. My kids LOVE to present so they beg to keep researching!!
