Why Teach A Format for Research Paper Conclusions?
Writing conclusions for research papers is challenging for most high school students, and teaching students how to write conclusions is challenging for their teachers. Enter The Ultimate Conclusion Format - a step-by-step process I designed to eliminate the headaches of teaching conclusions and the agonies of writing them.

I created The Ultimate Conclusion Format so that students who have no clue what to include in a conclusion have a concrete plan to follow. I have found that giving students handouts or sending them to websites with a list of instructions or Do's and Don'ts was not nearly enough. My students needed to understand not only what to include in the conclusion, but WHY it should be there. They also needed to make some mindset changes in order to take the best approach to conclusion writing. Many mistakenly believed that conclusions were just surface summaries and that it was fine to begin with (the dreaded and despised) "In Conclusion." I knew that they needed much more support and instruction than a handout or page in a guidebook could give.

Is following this format the only way to write a conclusion? No, it's not, but for years, my students who have little or no experience with research paper writing have found success with it; if you have students like these, you and your students will likely experience success as well.
