As a high school English Language Arts teacher, providing specialized support for struggling readers and writers, I am on a mission to teach my students the importance of the research and writing process. We all must be able to find the information we seek, critically evaluate that information, and finally bring it all together into a meaningful conclusive piece if we are to be productive members of society.
Over the last two years, I developed the research and writing process drill that I have available for download. It has been a rewarding experience designing it and perfecting it to where it is today. It has proven to be extremely effective with not only my English students, but also for fellow teachers who use it in their classrooms in all academic areas.
The drill walks students through each step of the research and writing process and along the way offers valuable learning opportunities. It teaches the importance of giving credit where credit is due, choosing effective keywords for optimal search results, and encouraging students to critically consider the information they discover.
In addition to the drill, which can be customized to include any databases your school uses for research, I provide a planner/organizer and rubric. Download, email and/or print, and begin teaching the research and writing process drill right now in your classroom! Delivered to you as a .Doc, so that you can customize for your needs.
