This lesson includes student instructions and expectations and a grading checklist for a research project on burns of the skin. I use this project in my Human Anatomy class in the Integumentary System unit. We spend 1 or 2 days in the computer lab, using the internet for most of the research. I then spend one period in class writing. Further work is done on the students' own time, but I give them a week to complete the paper after that. I have also had students exchange their rough drafts for proofreading. I recommend collaborating with an English teacher to instruct the students on the finer points of doing research and writing.
