This 14 page lesson covers approximately 4-5 hours of class time for an ELA-Science integrated research project. The lesson is broken into 4 phases to prepare students to analyze habits of researchers and data collection methods and identify the best fit for their research. The main activity of this lesson includes 5 learning stations which break down The What, The Why and The How for each of the 5 research methodologies presented-the directions for the set-up of each station are provided on Teacher Handout #1. 2 Check for Understanding Prompts are embedded in this lesson, in addition to 2 student handouts: 1) Data collection preparation 2) Data collections logistics checklist.
