Use this template to guide your students in writing a research report over the course of several months. Used in conjunction with your teaching, it will show your students how to find reliable sources on the internet, create research note cards, complete a works cited page, and write an effective report.
By spreading the work out over time and creating checkpoints, students are not overwhelmed by the amount of work needed to write their report. You can also practice the individual research skills with mini-lessons on other topics throughout the year. Be sure to check out my store for the individual skill lessons (coming soon!).
I recommend passing out each section only after the previous one has been completed. Not only does it cut down on the number of pages that go missing but it prevents students from getting too far ahead and doing work that you have not yet discussed in class.
I hope that you find this template useful in your classroom. Please feel free to share it with your site team and tell your friends about it!
