I have created an idea for my kids to complete a research project on things or people that they would be interested in and motivated by. For example, if the student loves to draw, I would give him a successful artist. My students are mild to moderate in a special day class, which means we are about 2-3 grade levels below where a typical 3-5th grader would be and we are working on skills that help us in our every day life. This is where I thought a research project would be fun and engaging, while they are learning! We are going to be learning HOW to google search something and how to work as a team if we don't know what we are looking for. They will be taking notes and filling in graphic organizers to then post their work in a final form of a paragraph and research project.
This is something that I have never done before, so it is deemed a work in progress! I may be adding things to this product as the project moves forward to help your students more, but this is the baseline! Get it now while it is cheap because if there are more things added, the price may definitely go up! Thank you for supporting myself in this journey and my students! As I have said before, all of the earnings that I get from these projects, go right back to me buying things for my students success in the classroom! Enjoy!
What you will find:
A letter home to families in English and Spanish to let your families know about the project and the topic their child is covering!
A notes page where the student can write the topic, the search words they used, an the websites they visited in case they can’t finish in the time you are working. As well as a place to write notes that they find on the site about the topic.
Graphic Organizers that lead to paragraphs for problem solving, informational text, narratives, and a web.
Rough draft writing template
Final draft writing template with a place to draw a picture for each topic.
Different choices that you could assign your students for biographies or report!
Each page has single lines for students and dotted lines for students who need more guidance with writing.
What you would need to do:
Make copies for as many topics as you would like your students researching.
I have just placed one of each thing in this product to keeping things simple!
As always! Please leave feedback on how it is going in your classroom! What could work better or what you added! I would love to keep adding to this project to help it be more successful! you can email me these comments at firstname.lastname@example.org ! Thank you so much!
