This template is intended to guide the student's thinking as he/she researches Milton Hershey. As a homeschooling parent, I typically make these kinds of guides for my K-2 students to help them understand the kind of information they should be gathering for a research report. After completing their research template, they write a rough draft of the first paragraph, review it, and try to "dress it up" with strong verbs, quality adjectives and adverbs, and interesting sentence starters. Once they've decorated their paragraph, they type the final draft of the first paragraph and then we move on to the second paragraph. For my younger children, I have found that going through this process one paragraph at a time makes the writing process less overwhelming and we end up with a higher quality completed report.
