This can be used for any RST essay, and formatted to fit the needs of your grade level. I am a grade 7 teacher, but have used this with grades 6, 7, 8, and 9.
I have included a place for teachers to identify sources of choice for students, or a place where students can collect their sources. Then, there is a place for students to Brainstorm their two primary reasons to prove an argument, followed by a location to synthesize textual evidence. Following the Brainstorm section is a DETAILED graphic organizer with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and conclusion. After, a rubric is included for scoring, and a picture illustration to help with "teaching" how to ultimately format the writing piece of an RST.
This would work for any middle school or freshmen level ELA, science, social studies class. It also encourages proper MLA formatting for citations and integration of parenthetical textual citations.
