Product Description
I am so proud to offer this assignment, and students will love the choice it gives them!

I get frustrated teaching research writing because students really need to practice certain skills over and over again to really master them, and research units really only ask them to get it right one time in the one paper you assigned.

This workshop is ready to print and give to students!
Students will complete 2 required assignments and then choose 3 additional assignments to complete based on the skills they need to improve.

Each assignment teaches the skill, then provides practice.
You could also purchase the workshop just to use the assignments throughout your unit as you need them.

The skills covered in this workshop are:
summarizing
quoting
paraphrasing
citing magazines
using signal phrases to introduce quotes
organizing topics
considering the opposing view
quoting a quote
citing unique sources (email, interviews, songs)
citing sources that are missing information (like author's name)
creating parallel thesis statements
transitioning from one paragraph to the next
using commas correctly

You will need to have some class magazines available to students for a few of the assignments. I am using Upfront magazine, but you can use any magazine with articles.

This is a great way to differentiate your instruction when teaching research writing or argument writing.

This workshop uses MLA format. You will also like that the workshop uses non-fiction / informational texts to help support balanced literacy and meet Common Core standards.
