This 11 page Smartboard presentation will show students how to use research skills correctly and in an organized way. It also shows students how to write a bibliography page correctly and how to cite an author correctly. First, the slides take students through gathering information and prewriting and the use of keeping information on note cards. Next, a slide goes through thinking about the audience to who you are writing and questions to focus on when researching. Then a slide focuses on how to organize paragraphs when writing a research report. Since students have a hard time quoting authors or don't know what to quote directly, learning how to quote using the sandwich technique is also explained with an example given, as well as using a parenthetical citation correctly. General research paper tips are also given that follow the MLA style, as well as tips for a works cited (bibliography) page. The last page shows students some "no-no words" that should not be a part of a research paper. This Smartboard lesson is a great way to present writing a research paper.
