Product Description
This 32-slide PowerPoint introduces students to how a library works for conducting research. It includes the "history" of doing research via card catalogs and continues through the current trend of locating materials through a library's websites and databases. I used this with my students prior to their first visit to a local community college library. It works well as an intro to a high school and public library as well. It is designed so that students can view it on their own if they were absent on the day of the "lecture." The simple explanations and visuals helped students, especially once we were in the library. The last half of the PP describes the three ways to document resources: Bibliography, Works Cited, and Annotated Bibliography. A follow-up activity I have posted is called "Creating a Works Cited Page with MLA." I also have for sale a guideline for creating Annotated Bibliographies.
