This month I took some time to review 5 things which make an AAC app functional and effective. I based my review on my own experiences with various AAC apps and high tech devices over the past 19 years. I also based my review on the response my patients and clients have had with this one particular app vs other apps. I also made a note on my review and can freely disclose that I have no financial nor business gains with the developers of the AAC app I reviewed in this blog. I did however, directly contacted one of the developers to ask permission to post this review on my website and the developer agreed with the posting of this review.
My review is for educational purposes to bring awareness to other fellow SLPs. To highly advice to take time to review and try various free trials of any AAC app being considered for a student with AT communication needs before making that one crucial decision on an app that will facilitate communication for your student/client. Every student/client is different and should be individually assess with a very functional and extensive AT assessment which will help decide if an AAC app is the best fit for the student/client.
