There's a suggestion for an optional activity
that focuses on the vulnerability of newborn mammals. You'll need identical containers like film canisters, food scents, and cotton balls. It takes a bit to set up but once it's done your students will LOVE
this activity. It makes it very real that baby mammals are dependent on their parents.
The teaching duration for this resource is difficult to determine - a lot depends on your choices! Here's a suggestion for 6 science sessions: 1-brainstorm, 2-introduce cat life cycles with images, 3-read about life cycles, 4-create a booklet, 5-assess, 6-review the assessment.
Allow a couple more sessions for the optional activity and then you can play any time there's a few minutes left in class.
All these resources were taken from my More about Land Mammals
product just for teachers who want to focus on the life cycle of a frog not its habitat, food chain, and life cycle.
This resource could be part of your collection of options for meeting NGSS 3-LS1-1♦.
