The teaching duration for this resource is difficult to determine - a lot depends on your choices! Here's a suggestion for 9 short science classes: 1-brainstorm what students know about insect life cycles, 2-introduce a ladybug's life cycle with images, 3-read about a ladybug's life cycle, 4-create a ladybug life cycle booklet, 5-introduce a cricket's life cycle with images, 6-read about a cricket's life cycle, 7-create a cricket life cycle booklet, 8-assess, 9-review the assessment. You could compare and contrast complete and incomplete life cycles or use that activity to challenge a student.
All these resources were taken from my More about Arthropods
product just for teachers who want to focus on the life cycle of an insect not its habitat, food chain, and life cycle.
This resource could be part of your collection of options for meeting NGSS 3-LS1-1♦.
