Product Description
A GREAT collection of materials for you to add to your unit about the life cycle of an insect. You can choose a cricket or a ladybug or BOTH. I chose these insects because one has an incomplete life cycle and one has a complete life cycle.

Here's what's included with your purchase!
  ✓ A short teacher background
✓ A web page created just for this product
✓ Images to prompt students to brainstorm what they know
✓ Colorful, copyright free images to use as you wish
✓ Three PowerPoint™ presentations saved with both English and Spanish text, including one for assessing students
✓ Videos of the presentations to show students who were absent from class or need to see the information more than once
✓ A short, informational text for students to read with three reading levels in English and two reading levels in Spanish
✓ Recordings of the texts for students who benefit from hearing the information
✓ Two simple booklets saved in both English and Spanish with color or blackline images
✓ A video that shows students how to create their booklet
✓ Four suggestions for assessment: quick, pencil and paper, for the struggling student, for the very capable student

The teaching duration for this resource is difficult to determine - a lot depends on your choices! Here's a suggestion for 9 short science classes: 1-brainstorm what students know about insect life cycles, 2-introduce a ladybug's life cycle with images, 3-read about a ladybug's life cycle, 4-create a ladybug life cycle booklet, 5-introduce a cricket's life cycle with images, 6-read about a cricket's life cycle, 7-create a cricket life cycle booklet, 8-assess, 9-review the assessment. You could compare and contrast complete and incomplete life cycles or use that activity to challenge a student.

All these resources were taken from my More about Arthropods product just for teachers who want to focus on the life cycle of an insect not its habitat, food chain, and life cycle.

This resource could be part of your collection of options for meeting NGSS 3-LS1-1♦.
