This resource makes it so easy for students to study earthworms in your classroom.
Choose to print simple booklets
(color or blackline images, English text or Spanish text) so students can record their observations. Collect common supplies like cotton swabs, a bit of vinegar, some recycled foam trays, and index cards and you've got what you need for a worm study with six different activities
. There's a suggestion for creating an optional worm habitat
Where to get the worms? I don't live near a store that sells them so I wait for it to rain. After a hard rain I can find them on the sidewalk in front of my school. I'm actually saving their lives - no one walks on them when they're in my classroom!
Check out the short student text
a student might read about worms (I included a recording
), a worksheet with essay questions
that let students summarize their results, vocabulary
you can print and post on your word wall, and optional extension activities
they could try. That might be a great way to challenge a capable student or team of students!
