Product Description
Respect is an expected behavior at all levels of a person’s life. Parents want their children to respect them. Teachers want their students to respect them. And of course kids want other kids to respect them. This particular skill seems to be lacking or degrading in many of our students these days. It may be a sign of parental role
change, value changes, or even the media to name a few. Whatever parents wish to do at home is fine, but often times it shows up in our classrooms. So it can behoove teachers to directly teach the concept of ’respect’. After all, it is an abstract concept, not always easily understood by all students. This social story defines respect, gives concrete examples based on what a student automatically expects to be respected in his world and bridges the gap of a student’s own expectations to that of his school life. Includes a page in which students identify respectful or disrespectful statements and change the tone of voice to see if it changes how it is perceived. Last page is suggested additional reading for reinforcing this lesson.
