This packet includes multiple handouts.
I teach my students how to respond to their reading as part of our Daily 5 Reading Time each day. You will have handouts for students that they can glue in their notebooks or place in folders that will show them how to respond to reading talking about their favorite part, what would happen if the setting were different, and if the title of the book fits the book well, as well as making text to self and text to text connections.
Students will see how to write it in their notebooks, being shown how to write the date, the title of the book, and a detailed explanation. Each type of response is given on a page so that you can cut them apart so students can have a small paper. At the end, there is a paper that puts them all on to one page in a shorter version so they can see them all in one place.
Teaching one each week, this gets you five weeks of work and helps create for independent writers and helps students when responding to their reading! Through you looking at these, you can have lesson plans for great books to use as examples when teaching each of these responses to reading.
