This is a grade sheet, not a rubric. I have found it allows me to identify much more precisely whether or not a student has done certain skills accurately or not when responding to reading. I have weighted the criteria differently based on what is most important. For example, answering the question with the correct text evidence is weighted much more than whether or not they started a sentence with a capital letter. It is very kid-friendly. I often give my students a copy of this grade sheet at the beginning of a responding to reading lesson. This way they know exactly what is expected of them. I also have found this to be very parent-friendly as well!
