Responding to Text Expository Writing Curriculum

Responding to text is an important and challenging skill that our students are being asked to do.

This unit is a six-week writing curriculum that guides both students and teachers through the paired passage/responding to text process. This collaboration provides a systematic teacher-guided approach that builds stronger writers and empowers all learners.

What's Included

  • Teacher Binder (Editable) - to store all your master copies

  • Long-Range Planner - for easy long-term planning

  • Lesson Overviews - lesson plans that are already written

  • Suggested Mini Lessons – targeted lessons designed to build better writers as you explore the writing process

  • Sets of Paired Passages – six sets of high-interest articles that are written at a 3rd-5th-grade reading level. (No more digging for appropriate material.)

  • Peer Editing/Teacher Conference Ideas & Templates – everything you need to implement writing conferences with both you (the teacher) and peers

  • Student & Teacher Rubrics - This makes assessing students easier by providing a basis for quality essays/responses.

  • End of Collection Assessment – assess your students’ end of collection progress with this assessment booklet and teacher rubric. Perfect for spot-checking growth or to use as a grade.
