Students are expected to respond to nonfiction text at an early age. At our school, teachers are required to provide one hour of intervention time for all children. During this time, teachers are reteach strategies and also provide opportunities for children to demonstrate what they learn after reading nonfiction material. I find this simple handout to work great for students.
Being a bilingual teacher most of my career, I thought it would be helpful if my Spanish speaking students understood the directions in their own language.
