Responsible Decision Making is one of the five core competencies of social emotional learning as defined by the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL).
CASEL defines Responsible decision making as “the ability to make constructive choices about personal behavior and social interactions based on ethical standards, safety concerns, and norms.”
Additionally, responsible decision making includes the ability to realistically evaluate possible consequences of various actions and being able to consider how others well-being will be impacted by a specific decision.
