I always tell my students to Restate the Question and they look at me like I'm speaking another language. I've learned that I need to explicitly teach them to restate and answer the question.

Student Workbook for Practice

This workbook is a twelve-page printable with two student booklets per page. In this workbook, your students will be able to practice restating simple questions, such as "What is your teacher's name?". They will use word cards to sort which words will be needed when restating, like is, teacher's, and name. They will also decide which words aren't needed to restate, like what and your.
