This is a project I created to use in my 6th-8th grade computer apps classes. Students use a variety of websites and Google Docs to design their own restaurant. Activities include choosing a concept and atmosphere, designing a logo, shopping for decor on a restaurant supply site, reading about the types of employees present in a restaurant and making staffing decisions, and researching appropriate foods to create a menu. At the end, they use Wix to create a website.
We work solely on Chromebooks, so I created the instructions and worksheets as Google Docs, shared them with each student, and had them make a copy of their own before editing. They kept all docs in a folder and shared them with me at the end. This was good practice in managing and organizing their Google Drives.
My middle schoolers really enjoyed this project, and were able to do most of it independently after I gave a short demonstration of each section.
