Students in Middle and High School commonly face significant obstacles in their lives. Many of those students act out as a result of their frustrations. Sometimes we need to help remind students that everyone has obstacles to overcome, and we must choose how to handle them. As a form of Restorative Justice at my school, I commonly have students do reflection assignments as a respond to negative classroom behavior. The goal is to help them identify their needs and overcome their challenges.
I have created a series of "Restorative Assignments" designed to help students with behavior issues in class. The assignments direct a student to watch a Youtube video and reflect on the video. The self reflection is designed to encourage students to improve character, show empathy, and overcome the issues that they're facing in their lives.
