Ms. Fanny's classroom management technique of distributing restroom passes has been such a timesaver and an effective way of keeping students in the classroom during instruction! At the beginning of each quarter, each student is presented with three restroom passes to use at their own discretion. Ms. Fanny prints the passes on different colored paper for each of the quarters. Students are encouraged to use the restroom before school and during the morning and afternoon recess periods in which their passes won't have to be used. However, if a student needs to use the restroom during class, they present their pass to Ms. Fanny preferably during non-instructional times. Students can use the "Restroom Sign Out Sheet" to help you keep track of who is out of the room.
At the end of the quarter, if their passes haven't been used, Ms. Fanny buys back their restroom passes from them for ten tickets each which is the equivalent to one of Ms. Fanny 's dollars that students use in a class auction and/or store. If a student runs out of their restroom passes, they give Ms. Fanny either 10 tickets or one Ms. Fanny dollar in lieu of a restroom pass. If your experience is anything like Ms. Fanny's, you will be buying pack their passes or providing students with incentives for their unused passes!
