Students will create a cover letter and a resume` for William Shakespeare (the man, the playwright, and the actor). Students will “become Shakespeare” and write the pieces in first person. Students will choose the necessary and important information from Shakespeare’s life and accomplishments to properly write a cover letter and a résumé in today’s “real-world” format to apply for any position within the Globe Theatre.
This lesson really challenges my students. They gain a deeper understanding of Shakespeare, writing, directing, and acting. At the same time, they acquire knowledge of the job application process, business communication, technical writing, and business management.
BONUS: You could easily change this lesson to use any author, scientist, mathematician, or historical figure.
