Description
Are you ready for a hands-on, highly visual retelling tool for your beginning readers?! This retelling packet comes with a FUN and unique Retelling Slider template to help little readers remember to retell the characters, setting, and events of the text as they orally retell. I used to use a Retelling Rope with my students, but my struggling students could never remember what each “knot” represented, and looking back and forth at a poster, or trying to remember the colors of a retelling bracelet is just too tough for some students. This Retelling Slider contains highly visual cues that are printed directly onto the retelling tool. Students slide a bead up and down the pipe cleaner as they retell, making retelling hands on and FUN!

The pack comes with 20 beginning reader passages that are specifically designed to coordinate with the Retelling Slider tool. Your students will read the short, decodable text three times for fluency. Then, they will draw and illustrate the characters, setting, and events of the text for retelling comprehension. Finally, let your students use the Retelling Slider to practice orally retelling the story, as well!
The pack also comes with coordinating posters in both black and white, and color. Additional retelling graphic organizers that directly align with the Retelling Slider are included, too!
