Product Description
There are four fictional stories included in this file. Each story is, approximately, one page in length. Some are slightly over one page long. There are also sample retelling worksheets included. Students will use a checklist to determine which retelling example has the most criteria represented.

The criteria for fictional literature is as follows:

~Characters
~Setting
~Accurate
~In Order
~Problem
~Solution

The final written task asks students to apply their knowledge of the elements included in a good retelling, by using the last fictional passage to create their own retelling. A checklist is included here, too, so that students may ensure all elements are included.

I enjoy using the checklist with my students, as opposed to other examples of retelling graphic organizers, because it is presented in an easy to understand format. Additionally, students can easily recreate the process for both state testing and formative assessments.

I hope you enjoy it!
