Reusing Lids for Math Centers/Counters
Although there are many great counters available for purchase, kids love using lids. Since lids are at best recycled, but are more often thrown away, you could introduce this math center at any time, but especially during a study of Ecology.
Use the lid collection as counters, and/or as described here: place them in the Math Center along with the Task Cards and student answer sheets for an easy-to-prepare learning activity that meets many of the objectives of your math lessons.
This packet has instructions for getting numbers to use, place value charts, task cards, student answer sheets, and number words for reference.
Math skills included here are addition, subtraction, comparison, ordering, sorting, reading/writing number words and place value.
