Jeopardy style review games lost their flair? Kick it up with REVENGE!! This fantastic review game is both fun and engaging for all students. The game consists of two parts: the Review Questions and the Bonus Board. The review questions board is just like Jeopardy. Students will choose a category and a point value. When groups agree on an answer they will raise their hands to “buzz in”. Keep track of the order because (after you assign the points for correct answers) the first group to respond AND get the question correct will be eligible to choose from the Bonus Board!!! Bonus Board cards can contain gifted points, the opportunity to steal points from other teams, or teams having to give their points away to each other!!
Even the most reluctant student will get involved in Revenge! Group work alleviates some of the pressure to get right answers and the constant flying around of points removes the stigma from the group with the lowest amount of points being somehow inferior to the other students. Plus, it’s crazy fun!
I’ve included how my students play with both and teacher and student directions slides. Also included is a blank student directions slide if you would like to type up your own directions customized for your classroom use.
This Revenge! game reviews a basic unit on equations and inequalities. Questions include solving each type of 1 step equation and inequality, graphing inequalities, writing/translating equations, expressions, and inequalities, and writing equations and inequalities from story problems.
My students finally got to this unit and were begging to keep playing!! (And they are not in any way motivated students.) They also pleaded with me to make another one to play at the end of the year on any topic! So I may put together a general knowledge one for some end of the year fun.
