This engaging no-prep review activity is a great way to get students thinking about the most important information in the unit. It’s ideal for middle school students in any discipline.
“One Dozen Review Donuts”: This handout invites students to “frost” twelve donuts with the twelve most vital pieces of information for the coming assessment. Once students (alone or in pairs) have completed their review box, give them a chance to wander the room and see what others have created. Ask them to put a dollar sign by the one donut in each other box that they would buy to take into the test with them if they could.
“The Best Sellers”: This handout creates an extension for the activity. If you wish, you can have each student copy the information from the donut their classmates found most helpful into a larger version and cut it out. Then you can put them up on the wall or on a bulletin board for everyone to study up until the day of the final assessment.
