This powerpoint can be used at the beginning of the year to see what your students already know or at the end of the year as a review. There is a slide that states a rule and then there are a few slides with questions that apply the rule for practice (answers are in the notes). I have my students use a whiteboard and marker to write their answers and show me and then I can quickly tell what concepts we need to practice more. If you don't have whiteboards, they could turn and talk and then one person can share out. Whatever works for you. The concepts covered are:
a vs. an
good vs. well
commas in a series, dates, addresses
For those of us fourth grade Texas teachers that have to give the reivising and editing staar test, this is a great way to help students know how to show their work on their test. I always tell my students to show their work, but most of the time, they don't know what to do to show their work. This powerpoint states a rule that can be used to show their work when given a revising and editing test.
