Revising is such an important part of writing, yet I have seen too many students turn in their rough drafts instead of revising their papers.
I created this handout in an attempt to build the revising process into my students. The idea is that students think of their writing like the building of a huge, delicious burger with all the trimmings.
There are two versions:
The first is a set of statements that will help remind students of the different aspects of the revising process. This is probably more suited for the older elementary students who already have a pretty good grasp of the process.
The second version is a checklist which is written in question form. Students must check off each item as they work their way through the process.
These PDF files can be printed out clearly at any size, so they work well for handouts or a poster for the classroom.
