This interactive notebook contains all the information Virginia Studies 4th and 5th grade students need to know about the Revolutionary War NOW UPDATED for the new VA Studies standards. Help make your life and the lives of your students easier by constructing this interactive notebook with your students to help them organize the information from Virginia SOLs VS.5a-c. There are teaching suggestions and pictures of each constructed page included in the document.
This notebook includes six notebook pages, tailored specifically to the information needed for the SOLs. Construct the notebook as an anchor activity as you move through the unit. Tailor it to your students' needs by using the different versions of each page, which require more or less writing. Once the notebook is constructed, students and parents can reference back to the notebook to study for class assessments, complete creative projects or PBLs, and study for the SOL test at the end of the year. The notebook will also help you to model organizational skills for students without the hassle of loose papers that get mixed up or fall out of binders.
The specific pages included are below:
- Table of Contents
- Disagreements between Colonists and Parliament
- Declaration of Independence
- Thomas Jefferson and Patrick Henry
- Army Leaders: George Washington, James Armistead Lafayette, Jack Jouett, Marquis de Lafayette
- Roles of Virginians in the War
- Major Revolutionary War Battles in VA: Great Bridge and Yorktown and Moving the Capital from Williamsburg to Richmond
(NOTE: Jack Jouett and the Battle of Great Bridge are being removed from the standards, but may still be tested during this transition year so I have left them in the notebook. I will update the INB again during the summer of 2017)
