There is no better way to explain redistricting in the house than to actually do it. This lesson includes two handouts and activities for use in the government classroom.
The first one is a 30 minute activity that has kids work out redistricting in a simplisitic manner. All the academic content is boiled down into a single sheet, that covers an updated view of Redistricting INCLUDING Shelby County v Holder (2013).
The second activity takes an hour and a half, and requires use of connected devices to do the redistricting game as well as process a more detailed view of redistricting.
Both are fantastic ways to cover your bases... and include answers as necessary.
