Description

Need a rhetorical analysis review cheat sheet? Use these four pages to go over rhetorical analysis terminology for the AP English Language & Composition exam. Terms are taken from the unit Rhetorical Analysis for Every Student.

Printer-friendly black and white versions of the handouts are included in addition to color pages. All materials are also provided on Google Slides.

Suggestions for Use

Use these sheets for reference during practice sessions.

Give a low-stakes quiz on some of the more "macro" terminology like tone words and organizational strategies.

Make a game out of the terms students are most likely to see on the multiple choice section.

Practice using the rhetorical triangle as a frame for analysis.

Use the tone words in categories when looking at passages to help narrow down and deal with nuanced tones.

Print them out for students to place in page protectors for anchor charts (all year!).

Use the Google Slides version to send work to students who are out the day you distribute these review pages.

Create a gallery walk and have students apply some of the terminology to the prompts they read.
