Do your students struggle with Rhetoric? Look no further!
This engaging, student-centered introductory as everything you need to ENSURE your students walk away from the lesson understanding the three Rhetorical Appeals (Ethos, Logos, and Pathos) and how to make real-world connections for long-lasting understanding.
Included in this lesson:
1. PowerPoint Presentation: Using a high-interest, well-known example from Disney Movies for each appeal, this Powerpoint Presentation explains the definitions for Ethos, Pathos and Logos. It also requires students to discuss what about the video clip exhibited the appeal. This PowerPoint does a great job of getting students excited and connecting to this content that can be very confusing at first glance.
2. Student Handout with Exit Ticket: Included with the PowerPoint is a student handout that explains the three rhetorical appeals. This handout also includes an Exit Ticket in which the students must identify the Rhetorical Appeal used in three, separate literature selections. I use this as a way to know immediately after the lesson that my students understand this topic and we can move forward in learning the rhetorical devices.
