This is lesson includes step by step instructions as well as templates for the triangle to teach your students the often difficult to grasp concepts of the Rhetorical Triangle (ethos, pathos, logos) and help them understand how Edwards uses these techniques in his sermon, "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God." I have also included the relevant Common Core Standards. This lesson worked well with Standard and Honors as it breaks down the concepts and helps them identify and apply them. My students enjoyed working with modern advertising to determine the concepts and how and why they were used. They had actually had fun reporting their findings to the class! I followed up with an argumentative essay. The essay assignment is in my store. The graphic organizers my students used to plan the essays are free in my store. Check them out!! Also note, the arrow in the thumbnail is incorrect, but it will download correctly!
