This is a college-level, major assignment in College Composition. This project asks students to write a rhetorical analysis using the First Amendment, readings, and hate speech examples studied in class. Assignment includes suggestions and specific guidance for crafting this essay, and also encourages deep engagement with the principles of the First Amendment. Classroom tested for three years at two U.S. institutions of higher education. Useful for a writing courses themed around this subject; also, history, law, social studies, or journalism.
