I use the Rhyme Maker to reinforce a phonics lesson involving words that rhyme. This is an easy to use form that helps students understand that ending sounds should be the same in order to make a rhyme. I use the SMARTBOARD to display the Rhyme Maker when explaining the worksheet to my students. Here's how the Rhyme Maker works. For example...I might be working with the "long a" sound...and so I might choose an ending rhyme such as "ame". I would then fill in the "ame" in the Rhyme Maker sheet at the top. Then students simply copy down the ending "ame" after every letter in the alphabet. As they fill in the "ame", I tell them to circle the rhymes that make real words (such as came, game, name, and same). The Rhyme Maker also helps students build their vocabulary and question new words they form. After circling all the real words, they choose two of them and draw a picture of each. I have an example of the Rhyme Maker filled out in the free preview.
I have the file in both Rich Text Format for Windows/Mac (so you can edit) and PDF. There are also fonts included.
